“The children loved the ponies in the garden and the fox that came by every day.”

A long table of family and friends in the dining room

At Perrine and Sébastien's

A family house, with room for everyone.

In the old days, “champs gras” – literally “fat fields” – was the name given to the best land, rich and fertile. The hamlet kept the name, and so did the house.

We renovated it from top to bottom, and we often stay here ourselves, with our children and friends. The long table, the games, the well-stocked cupboards: everything is designed for big gatherings and long evenings.

We hand it over to you just as we would like to find it, with everything you need, so that all you have to do is enjoy it.

A day at Les Champs Gras

From the first coffee to the last game of pool

The house on the edge of the Frétoy state forest

Morning

The forest starts at the end of the garden

Coffee on the terrace, then the paths of the Frétoy forest, straight from the house. With a little luck: a roe deer, a fox, a few squirrels.

Afternoon

Swimming, ponies and trampoline

The heated pool awaits the swimmers, the two ponies await their carrots, and the trampoline is never empty. A game of football or badminton starts up in the garden, while others read in the shade of the pines.

The children's afternoon snack in the kitchen

Four o'clock

Snack time, barefoot in the kitchen

The underfloor heating keeps bare feet warm, even in the depths of winter. Around the big island, bread and jam do the rounds, and the well-stocked cupboards take care of the rest.

The summer kitchen with its barbecue and bar

Evening

The barbecue, then fifteen around one table

The Weber barbecue is lit, a game of pétanque or Mölkky gets going, drinks are served at the outdoor bar or the games-room bar, and dinner is shared at one long table.

Later

One last game?

Pool, table football and darts for the rematches. A whole cupboard of board games, a library, and a TV room under the eaves for those who prefer a film.

A flock of sheep under an arch of trees on a country lane

Round here, traffic jams have four legs.

All year round

Through the seasons

The pool is for summer. The house is for every season.

Spring

Easter and the May bank holidays

The pool reopens in mid-April. Egg hunts in the garden, the first picnics in the forest, bike rides along the Canal du Nivernais and canoeing on the Yonne. The long May weekends are perfect for gathering the whole family.

Summer

The summer holidays

Pool, ponies and trampoline, dinners outdoors and barbecues until nightfall. Swimming and canoeing in the Yonne, starry nights far from city lights. The season for big family reunions.

Autumn

The forest in autumn colours

The Frétoy forest in ochre and russet, right from the house, basket in hand for mushroom picking. In late October, the Chablis wine festival.

Winter

Christmas and New Year

A well-insulated, cosy house, a fondue bourguignonne for the big night, and pool until midnight. In late January, the wine villages celebrate Saint Vincent. In February, Candlemas pancakes with the house crêpe maker.
